The year cannot be 1960; it should well be before 1950 because I was living near Salim Road and I cannot remember the coconut trees opposite the Mackinnon Market. More likely, around mid to late forties.

Thanks for your reply. Sorry but the trees you would be refering to would be neem trees. These neem trees were only a few meters down the Salim Road leading to old Nyali Bridge and were there in 1980’s. In 1960, being in my mid-teens, I could not possibly be mistaking it. Please do check again. Thanks.

wonderful memories. The market (marikiti) and the building next to it. Are still standing. Road divide is still there..
